Wait a minute…

…you mean Red Hat isn’t beloved?
From a concerned tech columnist:
Red Hat is a company that is easy to dislike.
Maybe it’s the relationship with IBM. Maybe it’s the way they absorbed JBOSS. Maybe it’s CEO Matthew Szulik, or the proprietary way in which the company operates.
Ouch.
Does this mean we’re not on the prom committee anymore?

Not loved? Puh-leeeze, if there are critics, I don’t hear them. Red Hat’s reputation is one of honesty — with its customers, with the community, and with its publicly stated goals. Oh, and then there’s that thing about creating a rock-solid distro in Fedora 7….

Aw shucks. Thanks.
Truth be told, I’ve been looking for a way to get what criticisms there are into this blog (you know, for discussion’s sake), and today Dana Blankenhorn gave me a nice lede.
Didn’t mean to (actually) sound like a middle-school popularity victim. Clearly, we’re not.

Organizationally, I love Red Hat for being straightforward.
Technically, I hate them for every “full install” minded sysadmin with RHL background I meet, and there’s still an awful lot.
Go figure.
